A 3D modeler and renderer that lives, on purpose, in the golden age of computer graphics. Designed for Mac.

What it is

Orbit 3D is a native macOS app for building and rendering the kind of 3D images that defined 90s computer graphics. Model with primitives, bend them with deformers, carve them with booleans, and scatter them across procedural terrains. Then a CPU ray tracer renders the scene with era-authentic looks, from the knife-edged shadows of a 1995 raytracer to the silky chrome of a 2000 product shot.

Features

Primitives

Spheres, boxes, tori, lathes, spline tubes, metaballs, 3D text, math surfaces, and more.

Deformers

Twist, bend, melt, shatter, smear, burst. Stack them, reorder them, and watch the mesh follow live. Cage and magnet deformers give you direct hands-on control.

Booleans

Union, subtract, and intersect on closed solids. Watertight results you can keep editing.

Terrain and water

Sculptable fractal heightfields with brushes, filters, and elevation-zoned materials. Infinite reflective water with wind-driven waves and shoreline foam.

Growth

L-system plants grown from a seed: trees, shrubs, coral, vines. Scatter a species across a terrain and reroll individuals until the forest reads right.

CPU ray tracer

Renders are ray traced on the CPU, deterministically, the way the era did it. Reflections, refraction, soft shadows, depth of field, and gathered bounce light.

Era render looks

Preset render profiles instantly give your scene the look of an era: 1995, 1996, 1999, 2000. Shading, gamma, and dither snap together in one click.

Loop Studio

Animate parameters with LFOs on a timeline built for perfect loops, then export GIF or MP4. Screensaver energy, no keyframe bookkeeping.
